LAGOS — Residents of Ikoga community in Badagry, Lagos, were left in shock after a 61-year-old landlord, identified as Toafeek Hassan, was arrested with a bag containing disturbing human body parts.

The victim, a yet-to-be-identified lady, had reportedly approached Hassan, who is said to be a cleric, for spiritual help after being introduced by a herbalist known as Baba Ronke. The woman was allegedly misled to believe she was going for a cleansing session by the riverside.

According to reports, community members became suspicious when they noticed blood seeping from Hassan’s bag. Upon inspecting it, they made a horrific discovery and quickly raised an alarm. An angry crowd gathered and restrained him before the police arrived.

Officers from Area ‘K’ Police Command in Badagry intervened swiftly and took the suspect into custody, preventing a potential mob attack.

While being questioned, Hassan confessed that this was not his first time being involved in such activities. He admitted that he was working for a spiritual figure and had been asked to deliver the body parts. He claimed to have felt sympathy for the victim but said he couldn’t stop what had been set in motion.

Police say the suspect’s accomplices fled upon hearing of his arrest, and efforts are being made to locate and apprehend them.

The Lagos State Police spokesperson, Olarinde Cole-Famous, confirmed the incident and stated that a full investigation is ongoing.
